Domkapa’s new products at Maison&Objet 2022
After being postponed due to the Covid pandemic, Maison & Objet 2022 will finally take place from 24 to 28 March at the Paris-Nord Villepinte Exhibition Center. This is a long-awaited edition that will bring together decoration and interior design professionals and for which more than 1,854 exhibitors from all over the world have already confirmed their attendance.
Organised by SAFI (a subsidiary of Ateliers d’Art de France and RX France) and with over 25 years of history behind it, Maison&Objet is one of today’s leading trade fairs for home furnishings and decoration. An event that explores the world of interior design and its latest trends, reserved for professionals, it attracts around 70,000 international visitors each year.
Maison&Objet is a mosaic of concepts, styles and talents that presents a 360º offer in line with the needs of today’s market. Its unique ability to generate connections and capture trends makes it an event charged with creative energy. It explores the universe of interior design and home decoration in a global way, covering areas as diverse as textiles, lighting, furniture, homeware, fragrances, decorative objects and architectural solutions.
The inspirational theme to be explored on this occasion will be “New Luxury” and it will be done from different perspectives with exhibitors from 14 sectors covering a wide range of styles and trends, while different talented designers will delve into the theme with their installations. The aim is to re-examine the concept of luxury in interior design, from materials, to the fine craftsmanship that takes us back to the past, to new technologies and everything that connects these different aspects in search of the desire for exclusivity.
One of the secrets of Maison&Objet’s success is the meticulous presentation of the products, with spaces dedicated to emerging designs. One of the outstanding exhibitors that will be present at this year’s fair is Domkapa a brand founded in Portugal in 2009 and specialising in the design of upholstered furniture. In each of their pieces they combine modern technology and artisan techniques to create unique products of innovative design capable of lasting over time. They use only high quality local materials. After two years without having been able to attend this international event, Dompaka will be presenting its new collection brimming with comfort and functionality, made with premium materials.
The chair collection with which they are celebrating 2022 is perfect for living rooms and dining rooms in private homes as well as for bars, cafés and restaurants. It includes four new, innovative chair models that do not lose sight of the craftsmanship that characterises the brand. Anna, with a timeless and customisable design, as well as Carter, with a markedly contemporary character that combines straight lines and stands out for its comfortable soft upholstery on a solid wood structure. In addition, the Louise model is presented in two variants: available in the normal version and in the bar chair version that maintains the same simple and strong lines but with more stylised high legs. This model shines for its sophistication and personality, combining natural leather, stained ash wood and brushed stainless steel details.
Sofas and armchairs are always a central piece in the living room of any home. That is why Dompaka, in its new line of armchairs, has created unique models that will capture everyone’s attention, highlighting interior design projects that take care of every detail. Characterised by their elegant lines that maintain ergonomic shapes, they allow you to update your home in a simple and glamorous way. Examples of this are the Ruth armchair, ideal for extending the elegance of a living room, or the Alexander, unique pieces marked by a special connection between functionality and modernism. Within these proposals, the Juliet sofa brings a touch of intimacy, elegance and comfort thanks to its curved lines of balanced proportions, while the Parker sofa, with its structured and geometric character, is highly versatile and responds to the needs of multiple styles thanks to its minimalist essence.
The beds that Dompaka has launched in 2022 are designed to provide a restful sleep, full of comfort, framed in innovative designs. The Margot bed offers soft lines with quality details and a minimalist style, suitable for both domestic and hotel bedrooms. For those who need to create a sense of visual spaciousness in the bedroom, the Shelby bed with its slightly narrower headboard at the top is the piece for you. Its clean, geometric lines and upholstered structure are pure harmony and style. The Kelsi model stands out for its comfortable headboard with padded backrest and is available in three different sizes. It is a bed that can be customised in terms of shapes and materials as well as finishes to achieve the perfect result for each interior design project.
In addition, Dompaka has launched a sample box that can now be purchased on its website and which contains the catalogue with the complete 2022 collection, a fabric sample book and a sample book of finishes. A super-practical kit for interior designers and professionals in the sector with which, as well as inspiring us, we can explore their exclusive designs and all the customisation options they offer.
Undoubtedly, Maison&Objet is the event in which to meet the team of this Portuguese brand or to discover for the first time their high-end pieces and to be able to feel them live. But there are many other reasons to attend this edition.
In addition to the exhibition area, a total of 19 conferences and master classes will be held during the fair that will deal with different aspects of design, from retail solutions to cutting-edge innovations, without neglecting sustainable design, biophilia, the use of materials or the new needs derived from today’s lifestyle, among others. As if that were not enough, Maison&Objet in the City will also take place, a parallel B2B event in which 65 Parisian showrooms can be visited to discover the latest developments in the decorative arts ecosystem in the French capital. Galleries, decorators, interior designers and leading artisans such as: Atelier Tortil, Adam Steiner, Charlotte Biltgen, Cosentino, Chahan Gallery, Charles Tassin o Stéphanie Coutas.
But Maison&Objet does not end here, as in each edition this fair nominates a Designer of the Year, giving recognition to his or her talent and work. On this occasion the protagonist will be Franklin Azzi, who was unable to present his installation when he received the award in 2020. This year he will present Retro Futur, a space in which he explores his own creative process where he establishes a dialogue between architecture, interior design and modern art. His strong commitment to sustainability combined with a minimalist aesthetic and a design approach linked to functional maximalism have captivated the jury to make him worthy of this recognition.
Maison&Objet is an authentic meeting point and reference point for the entire sector’s industry, offering the opportunity to showcase and learn about the latest products, projects and designs. Discover much more about the new decoration trends in our blog!
